Empty Legs
Our comprehensive knowledge of the market means Members can take advantage of a little known aspect of charter flight travel known as ‘empty legs’
What are they?
‘Empty legs’ are a frequent occurrence in the charter flight market and can become available for a variety of different reasons.
For example, a chartered flight takes passengers from London to Berlin. It then flies on to Rome to collect more passengers before returning to Berlin or continuing to another destination.
The journey from Berlin to Rome is not a chartered flight, the aircraft is merely ‘repositioning’’ so it can collect passengers who have chartered the plane from Italy.
There are often no paying passengers on board during this journey, which is why it is known as an ‘empty leg’.
You can travel on these flights at a hugely reduced rate if you are aware the space is available and you know how to reserve it.
By taking advantage of ‘one way opportunities’ such as this you can afford to visit friends abroad in comfort or return home from a business trip in style.
